Weruva International Joins Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals
New York, NY -- March 12, 2008 -- WERUVA International, Inc. (Weruva), manufacturer of human style pet food, has recently joined forces with the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals (Mayor’s Alliance) in an effort to bolster animal rescue. This marks the first time the Mayor’s Alliance has welcomed a sponsorship from a food manufacturer to assist in their ongoing efforts to place homeless animals into permanent homes.
Founded by Manhattan residents and animal rescuers David and Stacie Forman, Weruva will donate proceeds from its NYC Metro sales to the Alliance’s “Wheels of Hope” transport van program, an initiative that transports dogs and cats from NYC’s animal control shelters to other shelters and rescue groups that will help find them homes. This means that a percentage of every purchase of Weruva pet food in the NYC Metro area in 2008 will fuel this vital, life-saving program. Read the rest of the press release here.
New York has long struggled with its over-burdened kill shelters, and it is good to see some positive action finally taking place. Kudos to Weruva for stepping in to help with the Mayor's Alliance project.
